Lighting Up

Last Spring we had the opportunity to spend a few days on the Monterey coastline. I was in awe of the golden California poppies against the the crystal blue ocean. It is truly an overwhelming sight. As an artist I was inspired but also curious as to what these amazing golden flowers represented.

The early Spanish settlers in California are said to have guided their ships by the ‘golden light’ of the poppies. The Californian Poppy is a flower that opens and closes to the light of the sun. I love this beautiful symbolism. The poppy not only lights the way but also follows the light. How fitting that we need light to survive. We need to be filled up each day by the overwhelming light of Gods word. We also need to stay in the light and keep our eyes on the guiding light as we navigate this world. I wanted this collection to be a reminder in these crazy times that there is light. One that fills us and one to follow.

As we start to see the coast of California come alive with the beautiful colors of spring, I hope that your heart it filled with hope. We have a light that fills us, that leads us and allows us to be a light to others. As you wear these pieces that reflect the golden coast and crashing blue waves may your heart be filled with peace and may your light shine to others.
